Planning Your Next Trip With 6 Easy Tips

Happy Thursday! I was talking to a friend about how to stay motivated when you are feeling down and she told me to plan something fun— big or small! In my circle of peeps, I'm the planner so I'm sharing what I have learned. Today's post will focus on reasons and tips for planning your summer vacation now. Planning something fun allows me to feel like I am working towards a goal and not just going through the motions— your mental health should be a priority too!

  1.  Get out a piece of paper and your favorite pen. Make 2 columns. Write down what you must have on your vacation in column one. What is your budget? What places do you like to visit? Do you want to go to the beach, the mountains, or a city? Do you need to be able to walk or take public transportation? Do you need a kitchen or do you like to eat out? If you want to travel outside the USA, do you have a passport?

On your second column,  write what you want to have but can live without in the second column. Don’t forget about the little details in planning the perfect trip.

  2. Planning early will allow you to take advantage of deals. Don't forget to write down the cancellation policy or purchase travel insurance . This is the lesson we learned in 2020!

  3. Planning gives you time to research what to do on your vacation. A positive thing about social media is the feedback you can receive from asking simple questions. Ask your friends; what would you do again if you went to Asheville, NC? What would you skip on your next trip to the Bahamas?

  4. Planning a trip in Februrary gives you time to hit those summer beach body goals in a healthy way! Remember it is all about balance! One of my goals for this blog is to teach people how to live a healthy lifestyle and learn healthy habits. Set realistic goals and crush them!

  5. Like I menitoned in my blog on how to stay on track, planning a future vacation is a healthy way to cope with temporary feelings. Instead of eating that bag of chips, make a dream board for your upcoming trip. Its a win-win for handling stress in a healthy way and setting a goal you can and will achieve. Also, it's February and planning a trip is a great way to show yourself some love!

  6. Keep a file in a secure location or email a friend so you won't forget what airbnb or airline you booked. I'll never forget when we were driving to the airport and my friend realized he booked his flight for the wrong day! We stayed with him in Costa Rica so he wouldnt been alone. It was an expensive lesson to learn.

Mental health is just as important as your physical health. If there is one thing that I have learned in the past couple of months, it is that the little things can really go a long way in your journey to becoming a happier and healthier you!
