3 tips to staying healthy— holiday party edition

The holiday season is ramping up and so are the holiday parties! Here are my three “how to enjoy the party without sabotaging your goals” tips so you can enjoy the socialization and yummy food!

 

1.     Don’t overthink it.

Everyone is thinking the same thought—How do I balance holiday parties without losing sight of my goals? Remember, it’s a lifestyle, so don’t be so hard on yourself.

 

2.     Eat as you normally would throughout the day.

Don’t skip a meal because you know you’re going to a holiday party later that day. This may sound cliché, but at the end of the day, you will regret it. Load your plate with veggies and protein to keep you full and satisfied.

3.     Make a plate & drink a cocktail.

The best advice and lesson I had to learn was to fill a small plate with food I wanted and drink the cocktail, but not too many!

C.S. Lewis said, “Have fun even if it’s not the same kind of fun everyone else is having.” I apply his words to mean you are creating a healthy life. The high calorie foods will always be around, but the regret of eating those foods doesn’t have to be.

A year from now you won’t remember the food, but you will remember the people that made your holiday season so fun!
